About us

In 2006 Edward Gamble committed himself to helping children with rare illnesses. Always an admirer of the underdog, Gamble decided that not enough was being done for children who had unique illnesses. As a Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Saskatchewan, Gamble put his concept to the test amid his students. With unbelievable support and encouragement the resolution was quite clear: Special children deserve special miracles – giving birth to the Miracles for Children Foundation. “What we do today may be realized tomorrow! I don’t want to judge reality by what I can see, touch, and taste, rather my reality will be judged by my unwavering faith in helping others”.

Why raise money to gift seeing-eye dogs?

Research has shown that seeing eye dogs have a dramatic and positive impact on individuals’ lives. Not only do the dogs offer a safe and efficient means of mobility, but they also help redefine a sense of confidence within the child. Miracles for Children Foundation wishes to create opportunities for these children at an earlier age, so they can experience the world around them to their fullest potential. In subsequent years additional childhood illnesses will be selected based upon the same criteria. Firstly, it must be a childhood illness. Secondly, it must be an illness that receives little attention because it affects only a small proportion of Canadian citizens. And thirdly, donated funds must go directly toward some action that improves children’s lives now, rather than research, which aids future solutions.
